Born at an early age, Mike has played guitar for many years but gets less confused by the four strings on a bass, so has concentrated on that for the past 25 years. He works as a computer programmer, and other interests include home computing and motorcycling. If elected Miss World, he would travel extensively and meet small furry animals.
As a challenge to his numeracy skills, he actually plays mostly 5-string basses (he leaves his 7-string at home).
His weapons of choice for ceilidhs are an NS WAV-4 4-string electric upright bass, a 4-string Warwick Thumb fretless bass, and an Ashbory silicone-string bass played through a Gallien-Kreuger 200MB. His collection also includes a fretted four-string Warwick Thumb, several Antoniotsai basses ranging from 5 to 7 strings (he doesn't play the 7-string much but apparently it makes a good ironing board) and a rare Ashbory Mk II bass.
